M r. Lawrence R. (Larry) Stevens II, 69, of Provincial Towers Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday evening at the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
He was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Concord, N.H., to the late Lawrence R. and Lillian Stevens I. Mr. Stevens was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, where he formerly served as a church deacon. Until his health caused him to retire at age 58, he was employed by the Leslie Fay Company, Plains Township. Larry was a devout volunteer with the Wyoming Valley Aids Council.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and by a friend, John Vail.
Surviving are his companion Mr. James S. Meyers, at home; sisters Anita Bullaro of Riverview, Fla., and Shirley Zimmerman, Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Uncle Larry will also be missed by Jimmy, Michelle, Leslie and their families.
Funeral services for Mr. Stevens will be conducted Saturday evening at 8 p.m. from the John V. Morris-Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Zanicky, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call on Saturday evening from 6 until the time of services.
