MOUNTAIN TOP — Mr. William Seiler, Mountain Top, passed away Aug. 13, 2017, after a long painful illness at the Hampton Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

He was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Newark, N.J., to the late Matthew and Anna Seiler.

William was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in Hawaii during World War II, as he would always say that he had "fought in the big one." After being honorably discharged from the Army, he became a firefighter in Washington, D.C., retiring to the Mountain Top area in 1975 after 25 years of service.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Agnes Bardar-Seiler; his brother, Matthew Seiler; and his sister, Anna Young Burkhart. William also had a step-brother, a step-sister, two half-sisters and a half-brother who also preceded him in death.

William leaves behind his daughters, Sandra Murphy and her husband, John, of Mountain Top, and Darlene Warner and her husband, Melvin, of Mount Pocono; his three granddaughters, Dawn DeAngelis, of Mountain Top, Shawn Marie Howell and her husband, Bryan, of Mountain Top, and Amberly Warner, of Mount Pocono; and his six great-grandchildren, Brandyn, Taylor, and Amanda Higgins, and Geena, Shane, and Samantha Howell, all of Mountain Top.

The funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
