Wichita Falls - On Tuesday, January 5, 2021 Aimee Roberta (Scales) Brown was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven and entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was 86 years old.

Aimee, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 17, 1934 to Halbert Alvin 'Jack' Scales and Geneva Gynell (Rodgers) Scales. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, her cowboy (and clown), Waylan D. Brown on April 11, 1952. They shared an incredible 68 years building a life and an example of love, faith, and commitment. Together they raised 2 wonderful children, Pamila and Ricky. They have been members of Floral Heights United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

Aimee's earthly ministry was one of service to and love of others. Trained by the sisters at Bethania Hospital, she spent her early working years as a phlebotomist and medical aide. Of recent, her labor of love was serving as Executive Director of the North Texas Pantry, originally Floral Heights United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Aimee was instrumental in the process of organizing the Pantry Executive Board and working to obtain grant funding in order to construct a stand-alone building to better serve the community and those in need. In 2016, in recognition of her efforts in working so diligently on behalf of the Pantry, Aimee was awarded the Junior League of Wichita Falls "Give Light Award" as the Adult Category and Overall Winner. Although overjoyed, Aimee was humble and gracious in her servitude, never working for acknowledgement but always for the benefit and happiness of others.

Aimee was a 15 year Breast Cancer Survivor. To honor those who helped keep her strong and healthy, she made participation in local Race for the Cure events a priority and brought family and friends, who happily joined, along with her. She also served as a mentor to newly diagnosed patients, assisting them through a challenging journey. Regardless of having graduated from Wichita Falls High School, Aimee was a loyal Rider Raider fan. She never missed a chance to support, cheer on, or advocate for the school and it's teams she adored so much. Aimee's crocheting and sewing talents brought joy (and comfort) to so many that were gifted a handmade treasure of hers, now able to wrap up in a gift of her love. Many fun things sparked Aimee's interest, including many years spent as a avid bowler, but nothing more so than camping with the Good 'Ole Joes. The stories and memories of life lived in close community with dear friends were her delight to share and tell.

To know Aimee was to be loved by her. Affectionately known to so many as another mother, Mimi, or Ma Brown, she showered those closest to her in love in many different ways; spaghetti dinners, big hugs, fervent prayers, groceries when needed most, or an afghan for you or your baby on the way. Everyone was family to Aimee. Her joy in life was to make those dear to her feel loved and cherished, and she always did, in every possible way. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality, and, one might even say, the Ministry of Food, filling our hearts and our tummies all for the purpose of sharing the love of Jesus. Aimee leaves a legacy of faith, love, and service - Faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus, whom she lived her life to honor and share. Love of her husband of 68 years, family, friends, and all others she had the opportunity to meet. And service to everyone, as she so passionately worked to love just as Jesus did.

Aimee is preceded in death by her parents, Halbert Alvin and Geneva Scales; her brother Gene Scales; her sister Marie Dockery; and her sister Delores Scales.

Aimee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Waylan D. Brown; her daughter Pamila Brown of Wichita Falls, her son Ricky Brown of Wichita Falls, her granddaughter Randi Callahan and husband Bobby of Wichita Falls and their children Kye and Layla Kate; her grandson Connor Brown of Justin; and many nieces, nephews, and children of her heart.

Romans 12:9-13 - "Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality."
