Mark Galay Obituary

Mark T. Galay
age 53, of Mineral City, left his body here on earth and took his soul to heaven on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Mark was born on Aug. 7th, 1959 in Union Hospital at Dover to Janet (Davidson) Summers of Mineral City.
He leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cindy Davidson of Park City, Utah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen and David Friend of Mineral City, Karla and Bobby Brown of New Philadelphia; two nephews, Mark Davidson of Park City, Utah and Jordan Homan of Barnesville, Ohio; four nieces, Kelly (Shawn) Middaugh of Concord, New Hamphire, Sarah, Rachel and Amanda Homan of Mineral City; as well as twin great-nieces, Ali and Collins Middaugh of Concord, New Hamphshire.
Mark was well known in the area from plumbing and heating jobs to truck driving. He drove bus for the Canton Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps as well as spending time abroad during his service in the Peace Corps in Rawanda & Burundi, Africa and Dominica. Uncle Mark was famous for his many stories and anecdotes to his nieces and nephews. He always had a funny joke as well as "words of wisdom". He taught all of Colleen's children how to drive in an attempt that they would not drive like their mother. However, it was he who had taught Colleen to drive. Mark was patient and could teach anyone how to do anything. He was the guy you could call in the middle of the night that would talk you through fixing your water leak over the phone. Mark would give anyone who needed it his last nickel and to the very end he never thought of himself.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at the residence of his sister, Colleen on Aug. 10, 2013 from 7-10 p.m. According to Mark himself, no one ever followed his wishes. Someone finally listened and cremation has taken place through the care of Geib's Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Memorial contributions in Mark's memory can be made to the Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis 3838 Massillon Road, Suite 360 Uniontown, Ohio 44685. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Doctor Tim Carabine and staff at the Oak Clinic as well as the doctors and staff at Tri-County Hematology and Oncology, especially Jill. Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and light a candle in remembrance of Mark by visiting the funeral home's website at www.GeibCares.com.

Janet and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mark will be missed by so many. Mark and I seemed to run into each other at the post office once or twice a week and he always had a story or joke for me. He always made me smile and he always had a smile on his face. I'll miss him dearly. He's in heaven right now sitting with God telling him stories and jokes. Mark is in good hands now, no pain or worries. God Bless him, you and your family. You will be in my prayers. May God help to heal all your Hearts. Guy and Valerie Nelson

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Colleen,
I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain as my father just lost his battle with MS 4 weeks ago. I know how much you loved your big brother. He's now an angel in heaven and will watch over you with pride in the amazing woman you have become. Hugs to you and your family.

Janet and family, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Mark was a great friend and I have so many fond memories of him. I was shocked to hear of his passing and wish that I had been able to talk with him more during the last few years. Know that he was a special guy and I treasured our friendship.
