John E. Hershberger 1932-2018

86, of 3629 CR 70 Sugarcreek passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 5:53 PM at his home. He was born April 13, 1932 to the late Eli E. and Fannie (Raber) Hershberger. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lovina Troyer, whom he married on November 6, 1951; three sons and two daughters, Roy (Ada) Hershberger of the home, Mrs. Sara Ann Yoder of Millersburg, Eli (Clara) Hershberger of Baltic, Vernon (Esther) Hershberger of Sugarcreek, and Mary (Daniel) Raber of Sugarcreek; 34 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; three sisters, Amanda (Jonas) Nisley of Danville, Dena Yoder of Millersburg, and Edna Troyer of Baltic; and a surviving brother, Mose (Mary) Hershberger of Sugarcreek. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step mother; a son, Daniel; son-in-law, Roy Yoder; grandson, Allen Yoder; two brothers, Sylvanus and Eli Jr.; and a sister, Katie Ann.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Hershberger Residence with Bishop Aden R. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in Clark Twp., Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
