Steve was one of the Social Studies teachers at John F. Kennedy High school. He was an excellent teacher and the students learned much from being in his classes. As the department head I enjoyed working with him. My prayers go out to his family. Steve will surely be missed by family and friends.

My sincere condolences to the family for your loss. Mr. Eckert was my World History teacher at JFK. He was an excellent teacher. He was tough, held us accountable and ensured we learned. He also had a great sense of humor. I remember he loved coke or diet coke and always rubbed his shoulder against his face. I only have happy memories of him. I appreciate everything he taught me. May he rest in the loving arms of the Lord.

I knew Steve as a teaching colleague at John F. Kennedy High School in the Cleveland Municipal District where I taught 1980's under my retirement in 2006. We had a friendly relationship. I trust that he is at peace. I intend to make a donation to the Animal Protective League in his memory. George R. Bakalar
