Pohl, Elizabeth J. HALFMOON Mrs. Elizabeth J. "Betty Jane" Pohl, 76, of Pohl Drive, died suddenly on Sunday, February 1, 2015, after being stricken. Born in Halfmoon on November 20, 1938, daughter of the late Leroy and Laura Dunn Crannell, Betty Jane was a 1957 graduate of Mechanicville High School. Betty Jane was employed by the Shenendehowa Central School District for many years, lastly serving as cafeteria manager for Skano-Tesago school complex. Reading and puzzle-solving were things to pass the time away, but her most cherished moments were in the company of her family, especially her weekly Sunday dinners, when all her family gathered to eat Mom's/Gram's home-cooked meals. Survivors include her faithful husband of 55 years, William U. Pohl, whom she married in 1959; her two loving daughters, Dawn (Ray) Abbey and Denise Harris both of Mechanicville; cherished grandchildren:, Edward "E.B." (Maggie Place) Stephenson, Justin Stephenson and Amber (Jeffrey Haswell) Harris. Also survived by a sister, Helen Colliton of Halfmoon; and brother, Roger (Lynn) Crannell of Pennsylvania, along with in-laws, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Bertha Blacklock and Catherine Crannell, and infant brother Irving Crannell. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville. Spring burial in Hudson View Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice in loving memory of Elizabeth "Betty Jane" Pohl.
