Arthur Boynton

Boynton, Arthur CLIFTON PARK Arthur Boynton, son of the Reverend Arthur and Hannah Boynton passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2013. Art was born in Mohawk, N.Y. and was schooled in New York City before entering the U.S. Navy in 1943 where he served in the Pacific. Upon his discharge he worked 40 years for the N.Y. Department of Agriculture and Markets and married the former Irene Hayner in 1949. Art was known for his love of the San Francisco Giants and New York Giants sports teams. He officiated soccer, baseball and softball for over 30 years. He was a member of the Halfmoon American Legion Post # 1450, the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, the NYS Soccer Association and the NYS and Florida Softball Association. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by a brother, John Boynton. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Irene E. Hayner Boynton whom he married on August 6, 1949; his loving children, Garry A. (Barbara) Boynton of Ballston Lake, Debra (John) LaCoste and Brenda (Robin) Gillrup all of Jacksonville, Fla., Chris A. (Karen) Boynton of Clifton Park; two sisters, Eloise Bosch of Oman and Nancy Prindle of Cape Cod, Mass.; six grandchildren, JK, Daniel, Jordan, Katrina, Curtis and Justin. He also has many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Clifton Park Center Baptist Cemetery.
