Joseph F. Clancy

Clancy, Joseph F. CLIFTON PARK Joseph F. Clancy died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the age of 67 surrounded by his family at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a brief illness. Son of Rita Cummings Clancy and Patrick J. Clancy, Joseph was born and raised in Menands. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He then proudly enlisted into the U.S. Army (1965-1968) and was a Vietnam War veteran, receiving the Soldier's Medal, Purple Heart and New York State Conspicuous Service Cross. He then worked for New York State Office of Real Property Services as a manager of data processing, retiring in 2002 after 32 years. In his free time, Joseph loved reading, enjoying the outdoors, watching sports (especially the New York Giants and Syracuse University basketball), canoeing and was a proud member of the PTYAFO. He also spent the last 10 years of his retirement volunteering for the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library. Joseph is the beloved husband of nearly 40 years to Kathleen E. (Muller) Clancy. He is the devoted father of Maureen Clancy, Cindy Clancy (her fiance, Bryan LeBlanc) and Mary Beth (Clancy) Miskin (her husband, Samuel Miskin). He is also a proud grandfather to Elijah Miskin. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick J. Clancy, and sister, Mary Ellen Bendick. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Ann R. Breen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Clifton Park. Burial with military honors will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
