Robert J. Darmetko Sr.

Darmetko, Robert J. Sr. AVERILL PARK Robert J. Darmetko, Sr., 71, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his daughter's home in Watervliet. Born in Watervliet on March 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Augustus and Frances LaCivita Darmetko. Raised and educated in Watervliet, he was a US Navy veteran. He worked construction for many years and also was the manager of the King Fuels Service Station on Congress Street in Troy. He loved playing cards and the horses and loved his grandchildren. He is the loving husband of Lynn M. Agars Darmetko; beloved father of Robert J. (Julie) Darmetko, Jr. of Watervliet, Lynn (David) Johnson of Cohoes, Laurie Darmetko of Watervliet, William J. (Charlene) Darmetko of Troy, Brian (Shirley) Darmetko of Green Island, Beckylin (Antoine Hardy) Darmetko of Watervliet, Lisa (John) Gela of Averill Park and John (Jennifer) Burns of Troy; father-in-law of Charmaine Darmetko of Cohoes; brother of Anthony, Nancy and Carolyn Darmetko, Ann Marie (Jim) Bodah, Marilyn Rainville and the late John Darmetko. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. with the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. His ashes will be interred on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his grandson Jaden Burns, contributions may be made to the Spina Bifida Association, 123 Saratoga Road, Scotia, NY 12302.
