Herman Sweet Obituary

Sweet, Herman J. Jr. VALATIE Herman J. Sweet Jr., "Sonny", 76, of Barnwell Nursing Home, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008. Herman was born in Pittstown, N.Y. on August 3, 1931. He had lived in Tomhannock for most of his life and in Barnwell Nursing Home for the last 15 years, enjoying music, television (especially the Price Is Right) and his pets. Herman was predeceased by a brother, William M. Sweet. He is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Rector of Union, S.C., Mildred Spoor of Claverack and Mary (Jack) Sowder of Boiling Springs, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Michele Sweet of Nassau; and many nieces, nephews and several cousins. The family wants to extend special thanks to the staff at Barnwell for the excellent care Sonny received over the years, to the wonderful people at Hospice and to Dr. Charles Johnson of Columbia Greene Medical. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau, Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 at St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Interment, Tomhannock Center Cemetery, Tomhannock, N.Y. Sonny was always very fond of animals, therefore the family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
