Donald Bonesteel Obituary

Bonesteel, Donald REXFORD Donald W. Bonesteel Sr., 74, of Sugar Hill Road, beloved husband of Theresa McCracken Bonesteel, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Baptist Health & Rehabilita-tion Center in Scotia, with his family by his side. Born on November 8, 1935 in Lackawanna, N.Y., he was the son of the late Ellery and Beatrix Giroux Bonesteel. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bonesteel retired as a supervising head mechanic from the Shenendehowa School System Bus Garage, retiring in 1991. He was a life member and former chief of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Volunteer Fire Department, former member of the Clifton Park Rod & Gun Sportsman Club, Donald loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed wood working and working with his hands. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by a son, James E. Bonesteel and a brother, James A. Bonesteel. Beloved husband of Theresa McCracken Bonesteel, whom he married on January 19, 1958; devoted father of Donald W. (Debra) Bonesteel Jr., of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Daniel J. (Jerrian Hoyt) Bonesteel of Clifton Park; one brother, Ronald J. (Gladys) Bonesteel of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Kate Bonesteel of Valatie and Carolyn A. (Bill) Banghart of Leesburg, Fla.; two grandchildren, Christina (Jason) Powers and Donald W. Bonesteel III, one great-granddaughter to be, Allison Nicole Powers; also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and entire staff of the Baptist Health & Rehabilitation Center for all they did for Donald. Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, thence to St. Edward the Confessor Church where at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Fr. Patrick J. Butler, pastor as celebrant. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Donald's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
