Kniffen, Albert Ray LOUDONVILLE Albert Ray Kniffen, 86, of Loudonville, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, with his loving family by his side. Born in Athens, N.Y., Albert was the son of the late Alfred and Mildred Ruth (Scott) Kniffen. He was the devoted husband to Dolores Angela Kniffen. They were married 62 years. Albert was raised in the Coxsackie-Athens, where he received his education in locals schools. During the Korean Conflict, Albert faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army (1951-1954) and received an honorable discharge. For many years, Albert worked as a self employed carpenter, specializing in remodeling. He was the proprietor of Al Kniffen's Remolding in Loudonville. Albert was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of Christ our Light Catholic Church in Loudonville. Albert enjoyed spending time with his entire family and attending the sporting events and musical concerts of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping his grandsons build their pine-wood derby cars for boy scouts. While his grandchildren were abroad in the military Albert especially cherished these trips to see them. Loving husband of Dolores Kniffen; beloved father of, Barbara A. (Robert) Fulston, and Stephen G. (Jeannine) Kniffen; cherished grandfather of Kevin P. (Jennifer) Fulston, Stephen D. Fulston, Rachel M. (Kaitlyn) Fulston, Eric B. (Tanya) Kniffen, Alexandra D. Kniffen; and great-grandfather of Jarrett Kniffen, Ellie Kniffen, and Adrian Guevara. Dearest brother of Dorothy (the late Lambert) Nethaway, Ann (Gene) Kelly, and Robert (Beverly) Kniffen. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Teresian House's for the excellent care provided to Albert. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Thursday November 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 17, in Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow the Mass in the mausoleum in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
