Breslin, Arlene ALBANY Arlene Patricia Breslin passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Loving Home at Fredericks in Glenville, after a struggle with Alzheimer's. Born on December 16, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John and Marion Manning and a proud, lifelong resident of Albany. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph W. Breslin Jr., who died in 2009. Arlene was a lover of animals and over the course of her lifetime was the owner of two dogs, Archie and Rebel, and two cats, Lily and most recently, her cherished cat, Molly. She was an avid reader, a lover of all things Irish and enjoyed trips to Boston to dine at the Union Oyster House. Arlene is survived by her cousins and caretakers, Patricia Hatalsky and Mary Anne Cureau and their families; her close friend, Carol Green; and several other dear cousins. The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those who helped to care for Arlene during her illness, including the caretakers from Home Instead Albany, Peregrine Senior Living in Clifton Park and Colonie and A Loving Home at Fredericks. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Thursday, May 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services on Friday, May 18, at 8:15 a.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany, at 9 a.m. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, immediately following the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Arlene to Central Veterinary Hospital, 388 Central Ave., Albany, NY ,12206.
