Scalera, David Michael GHENT David Michael Scalera, 60, of Ghent entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 14, 1958, in Hudson, he was the son of the late Joseph G. Scalera and Barbra (Belterman) Scalera of Claverack. David was a union carpenter with Local 19 for 30 years. He enjoyed life to the fullest always with a smile. Dave was always ready for a round of Golf with his "best buddy" and father-in-law, Richard Leffler of Ghent. He had a great love for his family as well, which included his many nieces and nephews. "Soar high my Angel." Besides his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Joanne; loving dad of Michael David and Gregory Richard of Ghent; brother of Joseph Scalera (Bernedette Torre) of Columbiaville and James Scalera (Darlene) of Rensselaer, sister-in-law of Teena Wisenburn of Stuyvesant. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and "coffee-buddy" Mary E. Leffler. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. Burial will follow in West Ghent Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 139 S.
