Rapp, Dr. Franklin W. SARATOGA SPRINGS Dr. Franklin W. Rapp, 89, of Saratoga Springs passed away surrounded by family at Ellis Hospital on September 11, 2018, after a short illness. He was born on April 21, 1929, in Schenectady to Ann and Abraham Rapp. He attended Nott Terrace High School, graduating in 1947. He then attended Russell Sage College and graduated from New York State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953. He took care of many thousands of animals and their owners in that practice until his retirement in 1998. He was active in many organizations in the Schenectady and Saratoga regions, but especially meaningful to him were his involvements with the Boy Scouts, the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard and as a patron of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center since its inception. He also served on the boards of many charitable organizations in both Schenectady and Saratoga. He loved to ski and was still competitively downhill ski racing until age 85. He became an Adirondack "46er" along with his first wife, Bre, in his late 50's. He was predeceased by both his beloved wives, Beulah Mary "Bre" Rapp and Barbara "Bobbie" Rapp. He is survived by his sister, Carol Meisel; and his daughters, Barbara Jeffries (Terry), Nancy Hammond (Kurt), Rachel Careau (Steven) and Kim Skelton. In addition, he leaves 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Charlie.
