Meisner, Frederick J. Jr. EAST GREENBUSH Frederick J. Meisner Jr., 89, died Sunday, September 9, 2018, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Frederick J. and Amelia Tryon Meisner, Sr.; devoted husband of the late Marie J. (Hotaling) Meisner; and loving brother to the late Beatrice Barton and Ruth Venduro. Frederick was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Starting out as a tradesman butcher, and then a salesman at Graves & Rodger's liquors, he realized his entrepreneurial spirit early and opened a meat market. In 1976, he opened and operated with his family the Off Shore Pier in East Greenbush, which has been part of the community for over 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, tinkering in his garage on old cars and around his home, but above all he loved his family. Frederick is survived by his children, David (Marjorie) Meisner, Nancy (Mark) Taft and Frederick Meisner III; his sisters, Evelyn Welfinger and Katherine Giordiano; his grandchildren, Mark (Jared) Taft, David (Randi) Taft, Chris (Patsy) Taft and Rachel (Harold) Meisner. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Connor and Carter Taft; several nieces and nephews and dear friend Dee Roberts. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, at 12 p.m. in the W. J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the services beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush. Special thank you to the Hospice and their loving support; in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Hospice Organization
