Leichman, Herbert and Patricia VOORHEESVILLE Following very nearly 50 years of marriage and within one month of each other's passing, Herbert and Patricia Leichman departed this world. Herb passed at 84 years old on August 6, 2018, and Pat at 81 years old on September 6, 2018. Pat and Herb both spent the majority of their careers working in downtown Albany, Pat as a bookkeeper for the State Bank of Albany and Robco Specialties. Herb as a stenographer for the Albany county District Attorney's office (which he loved). They lived very active lives with their calendars always full and after retirement they only seemed to grow fuller. They did almost everything together, particularly ushering; they served many venues, including Proctors, SPAC, Troy Music Hall, the Egg, Capitol Rep, and The Palace Theater. Both were very active with Voorheesville Senior Citizens. They also served and attended Zion Lutheran church in Schenectady; a special place for them. They took particular pride in their home in Voorheesville and created a wonderful place for their tenants. Another thing they shared together was their love of food. They could frequently be found trying the newest restaurant in the Capital Region or Pat would test out a new recipe at home and it was near impossible for Herb to feel full. Playing board games and cards was a favorite pass time for both of them. They also traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Despite all they did together, they each had something that was their own. Herb umpired baseball for local youth leagues. Pat was very active member of the Voorheesville Garden Club, and the Delmar Progress Club. They are survived by their daughters, Linda Rodriguez and Lauren Kerbelis; and by their grandchildren, Matthew Kerbelis, Zachary Kerbelis, Else Rodriguez, and Rachael Burbank who knew them as Oma and Opa. A special thank you goes to all the hospice staff that served both Herb and Pat. We could not have cared for Pat and Herb with out their tireless help and support. A memorial service will be held on September 29, at 10 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, gifts in the honor and memory of Herb and Pat may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY, 12205.
