John Rose Obituary

Rose, Captain John Patrick LOUISVILLE, Ky. It is with broken hearts the loved ones of Captain John Patrick Rose, U.S. Army, retired, announce his sudden passing on January 4, 2019, in Louisville. Patrick was born in Albany, May 1, 1966, and most recently called Osgood, Ind. home where he lived with his wife, Holley Rose; and his "boys", Keith, Dustin (Faith), and Will Meador. He was always entertained by his grandson, Landon Meador. Patrick was cherished by his parents, John and Joyce Rose of Belleview, Fla.; and father-in-law, Wayne Peace of Indiana. Patrick had a special bond with his nephew, Michael Bernardin and niece, Cassandra Jones, children of his sister, Christiane Rose (John) Giovannetti, (affectionately nicknamed by Patrick "The Pasty Family"). Additionally, Patrick was loved deeply by his Uncle Brian Rose; sisters, Donna (Larry) Wilkinson, Elizabeth Roddy, Deborah Wager, Tammie (George) Mattey, Melanie Wager; and his brother, Frank (Lisa) Wager. Patrick will be truly missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as his beloved friends. Patrick was a decorated veteran who served four years with the United State Marine Corps, a brief stint as a Navy Seabee, and then went on to serve with the New York National Guard for over 25 years where his love for tanks began. He was deployed to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 for 11 months. Following this, he served with the Kentucky National Guard. Further deployments for his country included Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan; all between 2004-2010 with both the 34th Infantry Division "Red Bull's" and the 38th Infantry Division "Cyclones". Captain John Patrick Rose, U.S. Army, retired in January 2011, when he began his career with local government public safety. Patrick had a love of reading and learning, having earned a bachelor of History from Excelsior College, where he worked for several years. Animals were his "happy place", and his faithful furry companion Otto waited for him through multiple deployments and combat tours. As a dedicated public servant, who loved his country, family and friends, Patrick was larger than life. To honor his memory, Indiana based services are being held Monday, January 14, 2019, at 3 p.m., and details may be found on the Ripley County EMA page http://www.ripleycounty.com/ema/ Friends, family and brothers in arms will gather Saturday, January 19, at Allen Street Pub, South Allen Street, Albany, to celebrate his life.
