I learned how experiments are really supposed to work from Mr. Porter, and drove my Mom crazy trying to get background data for the paper on how to send an animal to Mars, get it there alive, and be able to set up an ecosystem for it to live there. (It probably would have helped if I'd picked an animal other than Marine Iguanas...) I truly enjoyed having him as my teacher and the reasoned way he approached everything.
