Riedy, Margaret ALBANY On September 12, 2018, Margaret "Peggy" Riedy passed away peacefully at Eddy Village Green surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in Albany on January 30, 1931, to the late Ambrose and Catherine O'Neill. She was married to her devoted husband, the late Robert "Bob" Riedy, for 54 years until his death in 2011. Peggy was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and was noted for her afghan blankets. She enjoyed playing bingo and rummikub with her friends at North Albany and Menands Senior Citizens. Peggy especially enjoyed her trips to the casinos and Saratoga Race Track. She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed all things Irish. Peggy was the mother of Mary (Tom) Brunelle of Alpharetta, Ga,, Carol (Joe) Zalewski of Guilderland, and the late Patrick Riedy. She was Nan to Tim (Ashley) Brunelle of Atlanta, Bobby (Rachael) Brunelle of Marietta, Ga., Sarah (Tyler Kessler) Zalewski of Albany, and Evan Zalewski of Guilderland. Sister to Vonnie (Edward) Quigley and the late Robert O'Neill and the late Ambrose (Mary) O'Neill; daughter-in-law to the late William and Ruth Riedy. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Peggy's family on Thursday, September 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services, Friday, September 21, at 9:15 a.m. from the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, thence to Sacred Heart Church, 33 Walter St., Albany at 10 a.m. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will immediately follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to Sacred Heart Food Pantry, 33 Walter St., Albany, NY, 12204.
