McArdle, Mark COLONIE Mark McArdle, 66, of Colonie, completed his life journey on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Mark fought a courageous battle against cancer with his loving family "lurking" at his side. Born in Albany, Mark is the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Hofaker) McArdle; devoted husband of 30 years to Debbie (Hallahan) McArdle; proud father of his three cherished daughters, Kelly "The Matriarch" Simeone (Nick), Erin "Ralph" McArdle (Dominick Amanatides), Meagan "Deer Eyes" Girgenti (Joe); beloved grandfather of Bianca, Giovanni, Marina, Riley, Liam, Jackson, Anthony, Juliana and Gia; brother of the late Kevin McArdle USMC, Neil McArdle and Colleen Haight (William) survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Upon graduation from Albany High School Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Mark was employed as a sheet metal worker with 35 years of service with Local 83, retiring in 2005. Mark never missed a family event and always put his family first. Mark was a Boston Red Socks fan, enjoyed playing Keno at the Racino and looked forward to track season. Mark enjoyed traveling the world, especially his travels to Ireland, Spain, London, Italy, Scotland, Paris and the Beaches of Normandy. Mark loved his Harley and spent countless hours riding. He will be missed by many driving the streets of the Capital District. Some of his favorite road trips included Washington, D.C., Arizona, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the members of Rolling Thunder 5 NY for making the Washington D.C. trips a reality for Mark. Thank you to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital and Hospice nurses Heather and Amanda for the excellent care they provided Mark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, at 10 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Please honor Mark by dressing in jeans and tee shirts. Relatives and friends may also call at the Magin & Keegan Funeral Home, 891 Madison Ave., Tuesday, from 4-7. Interment in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Debbie, Kelly, Erin, Meagan, Neil and Colleen,
There is nothing I can say about what an incredible man Mark was that you do not know. He was my cousin, and while they say you cannot choose your relatives, I would have chosen to be related to Mark. I always admired his honesty, his sense of humor, how deeply he loved his family and his sheer enjoyment for and appreciation of life! He loved life and was so good at living it!
What I respected most about him was how completely he loved his girls and how he stepped up when necessary to care for and protect you. I so admired how fiercely he loved you and always tried to be the best father he could be.
He found the perfect partner in Debbie. He found a woman who loved him and his daughters, and who happily joined him in raising his three girls. She also embraced his zest for life and travel and adventure. It was apparent they were best friends and how much they loved and supported one another and happy they were. You could feel it when in their presence.
Mark was special and unique and a true gift to the world and those whose lives he touched. He will be missed, but never forgotten because he leaves such a wonderful legacy of love and a life well-lived. I am honored to have been related to him.
In time may your memories of him bring you joy and comfort!
With sympathy and love,
Laurene

To the McArdle Family, On behalf of myself and all of his friends at Tommy's Place and the Heritage Cafe, I would like to send our sincere condolences. Thank you for letting us all have Mark be a part of our lives. He was a genuine man who would always listen and tell it like it is, no matter good or bad. We will forever miss his friendly banter, his great stories about his little "lions," and his funny stories and advice about raising his own children and his wonderful wife that did it with him. Mark was a true inspiration to many of us. We are sincerely sorry for your loss and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
