Futia, Martino ALBANY Martino "Nino" Futia, 64, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Siderno, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Domenico and Rosa Selva Fiorita Futia; and stepson of the late Assunta (Peppa) Trimboli Futia. Nino's family meant the world to him, and he treasured spending time with them. He loved baking (especially his famous cheesecakes), and enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley. Nino was a true fighter, and no matter what life through at him, he got through it with a smile and dignity until the very end. He was the beloved brother of Agostino (Maria) Futia and Pietro "Enzo" (Angela) Futia of Siderno, Italy, Antonio (Carmelina) Futia, Elsa Figliomeni, Giuseppe (Patricia) Futia, Michael (Rebecca) Futia, Edoardo "Aldo" (Vincenza) Futia, Rose (Samuele) Caldarazzo, and was predeceased by his brother Luciano (Tamara) Futia. Nino is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as many other loving relatives here and in Italy. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you for all the years of care, support and love to the St. Peter's Hospital 4-Gabe/5 Brady Farrell staff, who always made him feel at home. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Martino's family on Sunday, September 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany.Funeral services on Monday, September 17, at 9 a.m. in the McVeigh Funeral Home, thence to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave., Albany at 10 a.m. where his funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the funeral Mass.
