Berghela, Michael P. Jr. BRUNSWICK Michael P. Berghela Jr., 72, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Albany on September 19, 1945, to the late Michael and Antoinette Berghela. Mike served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went on to work as a steel worker for Local Union 12 for over 30 years. In 1971, Mike married the love of his life, Sherry Hale; together they raised three sons. Mike was a member of the local VFW, and the vice president of the Flying Knights Model Aircraft Club. Mike was predeceased by his beloved son, Nicholas C. Berghela. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Berghela; his sons, Michael Berghela III and Patrick Berghela; and his sisters, Grace Dunigan, and Angela Smith. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Friday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy, on Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675-8517, or to the ALS Association, 116 John St., New York, NY, 10038.
