Schenkein, Regina COLONIE Regina Wakerman Schenkein of the Towers of Colonie in Colonie, N.Y. died on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital emergency room in Albany. Born in Poland, Mrs.Schenkein resided in Belgium during her youth, later moving to New York City. She resided in Gloversville for many years where she graduated High School. She had been a resident of Troy, N.Y. for many years until moving to Colonie. She was a member of Congregation Knesseth Israel in Gloversville, N.Y. and a former member of Temple Beth El in Troy. Regina volunteered her services at the Albany Public Library, the United Jewish Federation, Hadassah and the Chabad of Colonie. Regina's family was her pride and joy and she considered her home, " her castle". She was married to David Schenkein until his passing in 1999. Loving mother of Michael Schenkein of Colonie. Regina was predeceased by her son Joel in 1973. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Knesseth Israel Cemetery in Gloversville, N.Y. The period of mourning will be observed at the residence, Towers of Colonie, 424 Sand Creek Road, Apartment 619 in Colonie on Monday commencing at 6:00 p.m. Those wishing to remember Regina in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Chabad of Colonie, 7 Longwood Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211.
