Olson, Roland George CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Fla. Roland George Olson 77, of Crystal Springs, passed away on July 23, 2018, after a long and painful illness. Born in Albany, he was a lifelong resident of the Capital District area prior to his retirement to Florida. Roland was predeceased by his parents, William Gustave Olson and Helen Marie (Millard) Olson; his brother John Richard Olson; and niece Deborah Lee (Olson) Greene, R.N. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his siblings, William Eric Olson, Eugene Franklin Olson (twin brother), Carolyn Ellen Olson-Allen, and Margaret Anne Olson-Murphy; plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Roland proudly served his country in the United States Navy and his enlistment was extended by the Cuban Missile Crises. He was well-respected as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 158 (former Local 106 - Albany). Roland pursued life on his own terms. Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., and a celebration in remembrance of Roland's life will be announced at a later date.
