Veiga, Ronald C. PITTSTOWN Ronald C. Veiga, 81, died Thursday August 9, 2018, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late John R. and Evelyn Marsden Veiga. He was a 1956 graduate of Lansingburgh High School.Ron was employed for 40 years at Geier and Bluhm Precision Instruments in Troy and retired in 1999. Ron was a life member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks #2556. He had coached and managed Brunswick Little League teams for ten years. He was a very active man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying airplanes. He was a member of several bowling and dart leagues as well as being an excellent baseball player having played for several area teams in the 1970's. He also very much enjoyed ocean vacations in Maine with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen Banker Veiga; the couple was married on June 30, 1963. He was the loving father of Wendy Ann Veiga of Pittstown and the late Roger A. Veiga. He was the proud grandfather of Lauren Ashley Veiga (William Dorgan) and Katelyn Marie Veiga; great-grandfather of Arya Dorgan and step-grandfather of Fallon Blanchard. Also surviving is his daughter-in-law Jacklyn Veiga of Troy. He was the brother of the late Gloria Haney, John A. Veiga, Evelyn Cicchinelli, Robert Veiga, and Janice L. Veiga. Ron is also survived by his good friend Richard Doyle of Troy; and his extended family including Helena Daus of Troy and her family. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will be in Norton Cemetery, Pittstown. Relatives and friends may visit with Ron's family on Tuesday prior to the funeral from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
