Vanderlinde, Ruth Hansen CATONSVILLE, Md. Ruth H. Vanderlinde, 92, formerly of Delmar, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2018. Born in Geneva, N.Y., she held a B.A. in education from SUNY at Geneseo and a master of library science from SUNY at Albany. She taught elementary school and served as librarian at Clarksville Elementary School. She was active in the First United Methodist Church in Delmar and elsewhere and contributed to a variety of other charitable efforts. She established a church library and a junior high school library, and also worked in the historical library at Valley Forge Park and in the special collections archives of the University of Maryland Baltimore County library. In 1994, Ruth and her husband, Dr. Raymond Vanderlinde, who had taught medical students and directed the clinical chemistry laboratories at the New York State Department of Health's public health laboratory, moved to Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, Md., where she was active in the garden club, taught flower arranging and ceramics, and edited three books written by her husband. Ruth was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her children, Jeanne Linden, of North Greenbush, Susan Linden and William Vanderlinde, both of Columbia, Md.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Charlestown Retirement Community Chapel in Catonsville, Md. Interment will be in White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund, Catonsville, Md.
