Sweeney, Shawn M. SPRING HILL, Fla. Shawn M. Sweeney, age 44, of Spring Hill, Fla. passed away on the evening of May 29, 2018, with the love of his family surrounding him. Born in Albany, Shawn was raised in Guilderland and graduated from Guilderland High School. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the McKownville Fire Dept. In the late 1990's Shawn moved to Florida, married and began raising a family. Eventually he began a successful career with Brinks Corp that was sadly cut short by illness. Throughout that illness Shawn maintained his resolve to care for the people he loved and he never lost his sense of mischief and fun. He gave us the gift of laughter every day. His legacy of courage, love and laughter is shared by all who is left behind. They include his wife, Julie (de Montozon) Sweeney; his parents, Leland and Elaine (Nopper) Sweeney; children, Alyssa Nicole, Jacob Francis and Zoe Lynn Sweeney; precious grandbabies, Emma Jane and Isabella Rose. Shawn was the brother of Paul (Krissy) Sweeney, Shannon Sweeney Chiarello, Daniel (Michelle) Sweeney and the late Donna Sweeney. Best uncle to Ashley, Michael and Ryleigh Chiarello, Samantha, DJ, Mary (Ryka) and Joseph Sweeney. Nephew of Gerald, Harry F., Janet and William Nopper. His many cousins were considered friends, especially his godfather, Brian Nopper and his partner in mischief, Sue Schillinger. Please join us as we come together to honor Shawn, his courage and his loving nature on Saturday, July 14. Mass, 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Central Ave., Albany NY. Immediately following Mass will be a celebration of Shawn's life at McKownville Fire House, Western Ave.
