Susan A. Walsh Marcil Obituary
Marcil, Susan A. Walsh COHOES Susan A. Walsh Marcil, 70, of Cohoes passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Troy and raised in Cohoes, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Sybil Carter Walsh. She graduated from Cohoes High School in 1967 and then worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy as a switchboard operator. She then moved to San Diego, Calif. to support and encourage her husband who was serving in the U.S. Navy at Miramar Naval Base. Following her husband's service, they then returned home to Cohoes to start a family. She retired from the Cohoes School District after 26 years as a special education teacher's aide at Abram Lansing School. Susan was an avid reader and gardener, she loved working outdoors from sun up to sun set. She was so very proud of her yard and home. Susan was also a founding member of the Cohoes High Band Booster Club. She loved traveling with the band and the many friends she made. She loved hosting family and friends making everyone feel welcome. She loved her trips to Maine and Cape Cod with her family and especially watching her grandchildren play tirelessly at the beach. She is the beloved wife of Theodore Marcil Jr. of Cohoes; the devoted mother of Jennifer Marcil, Teddy Marcil and Michael Marcil (Raychel); cherished grandmother of Julia and Landon Marcil and her granddog Bella, all of Cohoes; and sister-in-law of Janel Marcil LeBeau (Bill) and loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and eleven siblings. She was a devoted wife of 50 years, an adoring, loving and supporting mother and the greatest "Grammy" to her grandchildren. She brought so much joy and laughter to so many and was quite the prankster. She will be remembered by her sense of humor, pride in her children and grandchildren and devotion to her husband, as well as her great strength, courage and Irish will. Special thanks to Dr. Shail Maingi and the staff at the Hildegard Medicus Cancer Center and the Troy Hospice Team. Funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia St., Cohoes on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. For directions and condolences, please visit www.dufresnefuneralhome.com.
