Lyons, Theresa M. WATERVLIET Theresa Marie (Carr) Lyons, 93, passed away at home in Watervliet with family by her side on June 22, 2012. Theresa was born May 16, 1919, in Troy. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Harrigan) Carr. Theresa, and her beloved husband, Thomas B. Lyons Jr., were married 68 years ago on June 21, 1944, in St Brigid's Church in Port Schuyler, Watervliet. Theresa remained a faithful Catholic and a member of St. Brigid's Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. Theresa spent much of her life in the service of others. She relied on the strength of prayer and displayed the gifts of the Spirit in her daily walk. She graduated from Watervliet High School and in her earlier years, raised her four children. Her backyard also served as gathering place for children from all points in the neighborhood. She was very close to her sisters and brothers and enjoyed the card playing, her many friends and backyard parties, which often would erupt into Irish singing. Theresa enjoyed cooking and was especially expert in lemon meringue and chocolate cream pies. She was said to make the world's very best baked bean dish. She traveled extensively with her husband across the country, often staying with her daughter's family in Arizona. After her children were grown, Theresa was employed first by Montgomery Ward, and then, for many years, by New York Telephone. Theresa is survived by her husband and children, Thomas (Susan) B. Lyons III, Paul Francis Lyons, Katherine Howard and Martin (Beth DiCocco) John Lyons and her very close and beloved sister, Doris (Carr) Gronau. Theresa is also survived by 12 dear grandchildren, Zeke, Jonothon, Katherine, Jimmy, Tom, Bill, Hannah, Hilary, Otis, Robin, Kelly and Grace; as well as three great-grandchildren, Eli, Ceder and Malakai. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased by her brothers, Leo Carr, the Rev. Thomas Carr, Frank (Shirley) Carr and Jack Carr and by her sister, Sister Mary Grace Carr. The family extends heartfelt thanks to so many, especially Drs.
