Bloomfield, William Jr. TROY William F. Bloomfield Jr., 92, entered into eternal rest, at his home, on Sunday, December 23, 2007. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William F. and Rose Mary Keaney Bloom-field. William attended St. Peter's Academy and was a graduate of La Salle Institute, class of 1934. He continued his education at Manhattan College, class of 1939, receiving a bachelor's degree in physical education. William was the first person from the Troy area to be drafted into military service at the beginning of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Corps as a 1st lieutenant in the South Pacific Theater. Upon completion of his military service, William returned home and went to work for Bloomfield Building Wreckers, Inc., eventually becoming co-owner, as the business grew and flourished in the post-war era. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Masiwick; siblings, Rose Mary, John and Phillip; and a grandson, Brian William Bloomfield, all of Troy. William is survived by his son, Phillip, daughter-in-law, Linda, and a grandson, Phillip Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. from Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd St., Troy and at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
