Carpentier, Rodney L. GLENMONT Rodney L. Carpentier, 78, entered eternal life suddenly Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Westchester Medical Center. Rodney retired in 1989 after 43 years of service as a carman and supervisor for New York Central Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps as a rifle instructor. Rod was an avid hunter, fisherman and dart shooter. He was also a bingo caller for many years for numerous organizations. He was a lifetime member and past exalted ruler of the Bethlehem Elks Lodge #2233 for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3424 of Ravena, member and on the board of directors of Senior Projects of Ravena. Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Doris Asprion Carpentier of Glenmont; daughters, Donna M. (Patrick) Sharer of Colonie, Denese K. (Daniel Sr.) Bernaiche of Bristol, Conn. and Darlene M. (Roland) Mack of Lampasas, Texas; son, Rodney L. (Catherine) Carpentier Jr. of Ravena; siblings, Richard A. (Jean) Carpentier of Averill Park, Raymond E. (Patricia) Carpentier of Colonie and Rev. Sr. Jacqueline Marie Frances OLBUU of Earlton; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rodney was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Bertha Carpentier, and his infant son, Robert Joseph Carpentier. A Mass of Christian Death will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, February 15 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena with Rodney's cousin Rev. Randall Patterson as the celebrant. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Rodney may be made to Senior Projects of Ravena, P.O. Box 142, Ravena, NY 12143.
