GLENMONT Morgan R. Searles, 70, died suddenly Monday, June 30, 2003. Morgan was born in Albany, lived most of his life in Coeymans, 15 years in Florida and three years in Glenmont. He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. In 1985, Morgan retired after 31 years of service with New York Telephone Co. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Ravena, member and past commander of the R-C-S American Legion, member of the Onesquethaw Lodge, Delmar, Cyprus Temple, Albany, member and past president of the Coeymans Fire Co., former Fire Commissioner, past member of the R-C-S Board of Education, member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a member of the Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge 1429. Survivors include his wife, Verna Sherman Searles of Glenmont; sons, Keith R. (Cathie) Searles of Guilderland, Brian T. (Alicia) Searles and Scott D. (Bonnie) Searles, all of Ravena; brother, Thomas H. Searles of Fla.; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Morgan was predeceased by his brother, John F. Searles. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday morning, July 3 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions, in memory of Morgan, may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104, Attn. Administrator.
