Gericke, Robert H. RAVENA Robert H. Gericke, 84, entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Albany. Robert was born in Bluepoint, Long Island, grew up in Yorkville, N.Y., lived in Westbury, L.I. and after retirement he moved to Ravena. Robert was an Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was a POW, received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and was in the 30th Infantry in the invasion of Anzio. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Westbury 1012 K of C, a member of the Ravena K of C, American Legion, DAV and VFW. He was also a member of the Sycamore Golf Club and bowled at the Ravena Lanes with the seniors. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Olga Gericke of Ravena; children, Patricia Gericke of Manhattan, Robert Gericke of Vt. and Theresa (Peter) Cosgrave of L.I.; five grandchildren, Dieka, Jesse, Kelly, Kevin and Andrew; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 13 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers contribution in memory of Robert may be made to St. Patrick's Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
