Kandefer, John C. SELKIRK John C. Kandefer, 66, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at home after a long illness. John was a Vietnam veteran, serving as an Army dog handler. He worked 32 years for CSX and its predecessor railroads as yardmaster, retiring in 2002. John was a member of the Vietnam Dog Handlers Assoc., the Albany VFW Post 8692 and Ausable Forks American Legion Post 504. He enjoyed fishing, reading and was a lifelong Boston Redsox fan. Survivors include his wife Marjorie O'Donnell of Selkirk; children, Stephanie (Al) Rubino of Guilford, Conn., Tracey (Bill) Waters of Glenmont and Tricia (John) Kandefer-Margic of Selkirk; sister, Ellen (Tim) Childs of Delmar; stepfather, Bert Bruno of Ravena; and five grandchildren. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Wednesday, September 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 8 p.m. On Thursday at 9 a.m., the family will gather with friends at the funeral home leaving at 10 a.m. for entombment in the Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:00.
