SELKIRK Alfred Spaziani, 85, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at his residence. Born in Morolo, Italy on March 31, 1918, he was the son of the late Dominic and Virginia Onofri Spaziani. Mr. Spaziani enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) before entering the United States Army. He served during World War II and fought with the 881st Air Squadron at the D-Day invasion. He was honorably discharged. Mr. Spaziani worked as a carpenter and foreman at the former New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail Railroad in Selkirk and retired in 1980. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Ravena. Mr. Spaziani was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Rossi Spaziani, who passed away in April 1980 after 39 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Mariano, John and Henry and two sisters, Mary and Gina. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Gary Rusik of Selkirk. He is the loving Papa to granddaughter Terri of Selkirk and brother to Augie Spaziani of Fla. Many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews also survive. Relatives and friends may call at Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Thursday, August 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions to St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main Street, Ravena, NY 12143 or to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
