RAVENA Frank Christopher Bonafide, passed away on June 12, 2005 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital following a short illness. Frank was born on November 29, 1919, the son of the late Antonio and Lucy Apostle Bonafide. He was a graduate of Ravena High School. He was a World War II combat veteran. He was drafted in the summer of 1941, serving five years in the Artillery during World War II. He was stationed in Iceland and later saw combat action throughout North Africa and Europe. After the liberation of France, Frank had the honor of serving Mass at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, a memory he often spoke of. Frank was employed by New York Central Railroad and later ConRail, retiring in 1983 after more than 40 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for Beck's Floral Designs in Ravena and then the Albany County Sheriffs as an Albany County Court attendant. Frank was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Ravena, a charter member of the Ravena Knights of Columbus Council #3424 and the Ravena VFW Post #9594. Frank was the loving husband of Lucy Pagano Bonafide, whom he married on June 3, 1951 and the devoted father of Francis C. (Mary Beth) Bonafide of Delmar and John A. (Anna Marie) Bonafide of Ravena; adoring Poppy of Katherine Elizabeth and Christopher Charles Bonafide of Delmar and Jason Christopher and Lucy Marie-Ah Bonafide of Ravena. Frank was predeceased by his loving grandson, Justin John Bonafide, in 1997. Frank is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews; as well as cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Sylvester, Joseph, John and Anthony and his sisters, Philomeana, Louisa, Louisa, Rose, Concetta (Hattie), Philomeana (Fanny) and Margaret. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Main St., Ravena. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Family and friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Wednesday, June 15, 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in Frank's memory to the Justin John Bonafide Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o RCS School District, Thatcher St., Selkirk, NY 12158, St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main St., Ravena, NY 12143 or the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 would be greatly appreciation.
