SELKIRK Floyd McMillen, 85, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Albany. Born in Clarksville on June 21, 1918 to Sanford and Margaret Sager McMillen, he graduated from Coeymans High School in 1938 and was drafted by the Boston Braves as a pitcher. He was then drafted into the Army for the duration of World War II. He was a member of the 163rd Field Artillery Battalion of the famed 38th Avengers of Bataan Division. After the war, Floyd was the owner of McMillen Grocery in South Bethlehem. He was later employed by Paddock Pool Builders for many years and later was the owner of McMillen's Bar on Beaver Street and McMillen's Tavern in Albany, retiring in 1983. Floyd was the husband of the late Geraldine Amsdell McMillen; father of Bert (Linda) McMillen of Selkirk and Michael (Suzanne) McMillen of Altamont; grandfather of Rachael (Jon) Rogers, Rebecca (Doug) Morrissey, Sarah McMillen, Ryan Shepardson and Patrick McMillen; great-grandfather of Riley Ludwig, Ainsley and Jonathan Rogers, Jenna and Samantha Morrissey. He was predeceased by his brothers, Sanford, Fred and Robert McMillen and his sister, Nellie Van Wie. Relatives and friends may call at Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, followed by interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bethlehem.
