SELKIRK Charles J. Meilak, 70, died peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2003 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Born November 10, 1932 in Ghainsielm, Malta, he came to New York City at age 16 and to Selkirk in 1956 where he had resided since. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Meilak founded Meilak's Mobile Home Park in Selkirk in 1963. Previously, he had his own auto body shop on Route 9-W and was employed at Atlantic Cement Company. Mr. Meilak attended St. Patrick's Church in Ravena. He was a member of the former Ravena Rotary Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include four children, Anthony (Jacqueline) Meilak of Voorheesville, Larry, Mary Ann and Barbara Meilak, all of Selkirk; four grandchildren, Chad, Lindsay, Brittany and Joshua Meilak; one sister, Loreta Cordina of Bayside, N.Y.; four brothers, Lawrence Meilak of Gozo, Malta, Leo Meilak of Hauppauge, N.Y., Anthony and Thomas Meilak, both of Long Island City, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call at Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, October 13 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial donations to the Ravena Rescue Squad, PO Box 144 or to St. Patrick's Church, 21 Main Street, both in Ravena, NY 12143, will be appreciated.
