RAVENA Bernard Bernie E. Deyoe passed peacefully Saturday evening, October 22, 2005 surrounded by his entire family. Bernie was raised in Athens, N.Y. and had lived in Ravena for 61 years. He retired from the former Penn Central Railroad as a freight conductor after 30 years of service. He was an active member of the Congregational Christian Church of Ravena. In earlier times, Bernie was an avid golfer, enjoyed carpentry, camping and hunting. He adored his grandsons and great-grandchildren. His wisdom and wit will be missed by all. Bernie was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Maude C. Deyoe. Survivors include his sons, Douglas J. Deyoe married to Linda, residing in New Baltimore and David G. Deyoe married to Patricia, residing in Latham; three grandchildren, Erik T. Deyoe married to Kristina, residing in South Bethlehem, Matthew D. Deyoe residing in Ravena and Craig Deyoe married to Diane, residing in Guilderland; step-grandson, Robert Weidman married to Doreen, residing in Watervliet; five great-grandchildren, Erin and Shannon Deyoe, residing in Guilderland, Robert J., Corey and Amanda Weidman, residing in Watervliet. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service, starting at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Congregational Christian Church, 175 Main Street, Ravena, NY 12143.
