FT. HOOD, Texas Captain Timothy J. Moshier, formerly of Delmar, N.Y., died in Yusufiyah, Iraq on April 1, 2006 while conducting a combat air patrol mission. He was 25 years old. Tim was born on April 17, 1980 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. and brought joy to everyone who knew him. An open-hearted friend who always shared the concern of others, Tim's devotion to God, family and country was the essence of his life. A great storyteller with an infectious smile, he loved and incorporated humor into his journey. Tim loved to read and enjoyed sports and adventure. He was committed to excellence, especially through the concept of teamwork and worked at all things with a deep sense of gratitude and humility. He was a 1998 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and a 2002 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering. Captain Moshier was stationed at Ft. Rucker, Ala. from 2002-2004. While there, he attended flight school and became a licensed aviator in the AH-64D, Apache Longbow helicopter. In 2004, Capt. Moshier was assigned to 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry at Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as a platoon leader. In December 2005, he deployed to Iraq with 4th Battalion (Attack), 4th Aviation Regiment as the Assistant S3. He served in this position until the time of his death. Captain Moshier is survived by, and will always be a part of, his wife, Katie (McKee) Moshier and daughter Natalie, both of Killeen, Texas; his parents, Jim and Mary Ellen Moshier of Delmar, N.Y.; his sister, Lauren and her husband Devin Anderson of Albany, N.Y. and his grandmother, Frances Moshier of Scotia, N.Y. He was the beloved son-in-law of Peter and Lynne McKee and brother-in-law of Ali McKee, all of Delmar. In addition, Tim leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, family and friends whom he loved deeply and who will miss him in ways that words cannot describe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Central Endowment Fund, 90 Adams Place, Delmar, NY 12054 c/o Timothy J. Moshier Memorial Fund. This fund will be used for a scholarship in Tim's name for students excelling in science and technology. Also, contributions may be made to the Natalie Grace Moshier Memorial Trust, c/o Merrill Lynch, 30 South Pearl St., Albany, NY 12207.
