RAVENA Grace Hoyer Newell Day, 87, entered eternal life on Friday, June 30, 2006. Grace was born in Austerlitz, N.Y., daughter of the late Louis A. and Grace I. Goodrich Hoyer. Grace had been a member of the Ravena-Coeymans Yacht Club, Newmar's rally's and organizations, GFWC Williston Women's Club in Fla., Zion Lutheran Church in Athens and ELCW Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an avid golfer, bowler, boater and, after she turned 65, she traveled extensively by motor home to every state except Hawaii and wintered in Fla. Survivors include her sons, Lesie R. (Judith) Newell and Stuart A. (Joanne) Newell; sisters, Jean Westervelt and Lucille Fitzgerald; stepdaughter-in-law, Barbara Day; nephew, Bruce Kaiser; grandchildren, Michael T. Newell, Susanne (David) Koban, Candy Newell, Trevor Newell, Sean A. (Amanda) Newell, Robert S. Day Jr., Lisa Day and Denise (Joseph) Dragon; great-grandchildren, Megan Newell, Christy Koban, David, Joseph and Craig Dragon; great-great-granddaughter, Breonna Dragon. She was predeceased by her husband Steven V. Day and stepson, Robert S. Day. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 3 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Athens. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Contributions in memory of Grace may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or to the Ravena Rescue Squad.
