RAVENA John F. Willey, 81, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital. John was born in New Hampshire and has lived in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk area most of his life. He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. John retired in 1987 serving in different capacities for Security Supply in Selkirk, ending as executive vice president after 40 years of service. He was a member and past chief of the Selkirk Fire Co. and a member of the board of fire commissioners. He had served on the R-C-S board of education for several years, former member of the Town of Coeymans Planning Board, a member of the Coeymans Hollow Fire Co., serving 16 years as financial secretary. John was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church serving as chairman of the administrative council and president of the board of trustees. John was the husband of Doris I. Koechlin Willey; father of Karen A. (Harold) Boomhower of Watertown, Kathy J. (Roy) Deyo of Ravena and Kim R. (Deborah) Willey of Niskayuna; grandfather of Oliver, Jonathan and Sarah Boomhower, Amy (Eric) Korhonen, Mark and Matthew Deyo, Julianna Willey and the late Michael J. Deyo; great-grandfather of Ryan Korhonen. John was predeceased by his sister, Beth W. Rowe and brother, Clarence K. Willey. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Tuesday morning, January 27, 2004 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will take place in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Coeymans Hollow, NY 12046 or the Ravena Rescue Squad, PO Box 144, Ravena, NY 12143 would be appreciated.
