RAVENA John R. O'Brien, 39, entered eternal life suddenly on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. John lived in Ravena most of his life. He was a former Sgt. for the Coeymans Police Department and had also worked for the Saratoga Sheriffs Department. He was a former member of the Ravena Fire Department and the Ravena Rescue Squad. John was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Linda O'Brien. Survivors include his loving children, Christopher J. and Kevin R. O'Brien of Rotterdam; sister, Kathy (Barry) Babcock of Coeymans Hollow; brother, Michael O'Brien of Coeymans Hollow; companion, Melissa Powell and her son Patrick of Ravena; nephews, Dylan and Joshua Babcock; grandmother, Rosemary Barbour of Watervliet; aunts, Louise (Billy) Bott of Fla., Elaine Radez of Calif. and Annie DePasquale of Watervliet; and uncle, Mark Barbour of Ariz. Also survived by many cousins, friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colonie. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of John may be made to the O'Brien family.
