RAVENA Richard L. Starr, 63, entered eternal life suddenly Monday, October 9, 2006 at his residence. He was raised in Albany and lived in Ravena most of his life. Richard was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia A. Whitbeck Starr of Ravena; children, Richard E. Starr of Schenectady, Thomas L. (Sue) Starr of Westerlo, Karen M. Markessinis of Delmar and Lawrence F. Markessinis of Albany; siblings, Ellen (Mike) Lawrence of Rensselaer, Kenneth Starr of Westerlo, Eileen (Thomas) Adams of Latham and Donald (Joanne) Starr of Waterford; and seven grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Horton and Alice Starr. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 14 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Ravena Rescue Squad, in memory of Richard, would be appreciated.
