FLORENCE, S.C. Vivian S. Hotaling, 81, formerly of Coeymans Hollow, died suddenly Saturday, October 14, 2006. She was born in Coeymans Hollow on August 6, 1925, daughter of the late Alvah Starr and Mary Starr Richardson. Vivian retired after 25 years as a bus driver for the R.C.S. School District. She was also a foster mother to many children for many years. Vivian was the wife of the late Earl Hotaling; mother of Earl (Ethel) Hotaling of Ravena, Gloria (Robert) Paul of Ariz. and Donna (Douglas) Carter of S.C.; foster mother of Victor (Barbara) Duncan of Greenville; sister of Minnie Gaul of Altamont; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Vivian was predeceased by her foster son, Harry MacGowan; sisters, Edith Wade, Marjorie Wickham and Eleanor Walton; and brother, Horton Starr. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 20, at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Alcove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Vivian may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
