Roberts, Dorothy RAVENA Dorothy Bryan Roberts, 94, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. A 70 year resident of Ravena, Dorothy was born in West Hempstead, N.Y. on April 2, 1912, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Bryan. She was a 1932 graduate of Potsdam State Normal School and taught school in Coeymans and Ravena for many years. Dorothy touched the lives of all she met with her cheerful attitude, quiet dignity, patience and grace. In addition to her parents and husband, Earl H. Robert, Dorothy was predeceased by brothers, J. Herbert and Robert Bryan; sister, Ruth Bryan; sister-in-law and dear friend, Ruth M. Youmans; and longtime friends and fellow teachers, Dorothy Reid Francisco and Gladys Haines. She is survived by nephews, Richard Kincaid of N.H., Craig (Mary Lou) Youmans of Ravena; nieces, Joy (Charles) Noble of N.H., Patricia Copeland of Conn. and Eileen Kershner of Texas. The family is very grateful to the staff of Good Samaritan and Community Hospice of Albany for their attentive care. A memorial service will be held at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. The family has requested that those who wish to remember Dorothy be aware that memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Bryan Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund, designed to aid R-C-S graduates studying to become teachers.
