SELKIRK John R. Horner, 86, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 7, 2004. John was born in Springfield, Mass. and has lived in Selkirk for 45 years. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II. In 1981 John retired after many years of service as a truck driver for Chemical Lehman in Albany. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 294. John was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth A. Horner. Survivors include his son, Matthew J. Horner of Selkirk; grandchildren, Robert J. Horner of Athens, Maggie Horner of Coxsackie, Chantelle Horner of Ind., Matthew Horner Jr. of Selkirk and Evamarie Horner of Ravena; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Cora Horner of Athens and Leann Hadley of Ind. John was predeceased by his son, Robert Horner and grandson, John Horner. Funeral services will be held 2:00 Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2004 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will take place in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service starting at 1 p.m. Contributions in memory of John may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
