RAVENA William H. Dewsbury, 76, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Enfield, Conn., he was raised in Albany and has lived in Ravena since 1959. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Dewsbury was a mason and tile setter and was employed for 20 years at SUNY Albany, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Capital Area Masons and Unitas Memorial VFW Post 9594 in Ravena. He was a life member of American Legion Post 114 in Ravena and a past member of Ravena Hose Company #1 and Fire Police. He was a member and past president of Sandy's Golf League. He is survived by his wife, Sharon E. Dewsbury; four children, Keith V. (Barbara) Dewsbury of Port Charlotte, Debra (Xie) LaValle of Colton, Calif., William H. Dewsbury of Coeymans Hollow and Scott D. (Rafaella) Dewsbury of New Baltimore; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, Jeffrey, Kyle, Patrick, Isabelle and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren, Kristen and Tyler. He is the brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Michael O'Brien of Coeymans Hollow, Mrs. Sylvia O'Brien of Coeymans Hollow, Mr. and Mrs. William Barry of Ravena, Mrs. and Mrs. Gerald O'Brien of Oswego; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, Friday 5-7 p.m. All other services will be conducted privately. Memorial contributions to VFW Post 9594 Sickroom Supply Fund, c/o Albert J. Nunziato, 49 South Clement Avenue, Ravena, NY 12143 will be appreciated.
